    great experience

    Like: We arrived and spent a few moments waiting for the service agent, but she was very friendly and when she looked at my license, she noticed the following day was my birthday, she upgraded me at no charge. Then went I went out the airport to pick up the car the girls in the booth were fantastic and made the same comment and made sure I was upgraded at no charge.
    Dislike: I was told that when I checked the car back in I would get a email receipt and I have not received anything and this is 3 days now. I have even checked my spam and have received nothing. That part of the service needs to be better.

    Would recommend

    Like: Great car for the price and the people at Dollar’s HQ were excellent. Hiring a car for the week didn’t cost much more than taxi transfers from the airport and saved us money on food shopping and other trips. Was sad to drop the brand new Polo back at the airport!
    Dislike: Googlemaps link to the hire meet up spot at the airport didn’t work and so it took a bit of a ramble around the airport car parking/ meeting points to find the transfer van which takes you to the car hire centre on the nearby industrial estate.

    Easy rental process - exceptionally disappointing upsell from counter staff

    I was very disappointed that the dollar counter staff tried selling me insurance again even after I explained that I had purchased this through easy rent cars. He told me a number of times that I wasn’t actually insured when in fact I was, just not through them. I think that the insurance process is misleading for customers, and most people would just listen to what the staff member was selling and take it. Resulting in a double up of insurance. Not impressed about that process and glad I understand it now for future.

    Didn´t get the car I rented!! Very bad!

    I rented a Jeep Grand Cherokee and ended up getting a GMC Terrain and didn´t get the baby seats I requested. At the counter I was not informed that I was getting a different car. It was only when I got to the garage to pick up the vehicle that I was told to choose any of the cars (in the same category) that were parked there... I was a bit shocked. First I chose a Pathfinder that suited me very well but after putting all our luggage in and starting the car a message came up on the panel ¨key - low battery¨.... went to the company booth and was told they didn´t have a replacement battery so I had to choose another car. What a nightmare. I then chose the Terrain a which had less space then what I needed. The car was good and clean but space was crutial in our trip and the overall experiance with Dollar was bad.

    Very Good

    I was disappointed because I was charged more than what I was quoted initially ($8 more). I reserved the car for $51 (including all taxes). But at the counter, the attendant said that it is $58. I showed her my reservation. but she could not do anything.

    Was excellent up until return of car.

    When we collected the car we asked if possible to add another driver for two weeks only. We were told not a problem. No other information was given out or offered. On returning the car we were charged an extra $400 dollars for the extra driver! The extra driver could have hired their own car for that cost. Why were we not that the cost would be so high?

    Good clean car. Getting shuttle to pick up was a bit challenging.

    Number to dial to contact Dollar can be a bit confusing. Maybe I'm just not that savvy with dialing international numbers. The number that finally worked was 027 808 6503. This didn't work. +64 27 808 6503.

    Overcharged at the counter. Easyrentcars missed the mark again!

    Dollar overcharged me at the counter. The agent was less than friendly and always high pressure to up sell additional insurance, EZ pass, upgrade, etc.

    Dollar at Houston IAH Didnot Rent To Me

    So disappointed at Dollar...It was my first time using Dollar (will never use it again) as Easyrentcars gave me a good deal online. When I arrived at Houston IAH airport Dollar car rental counter, the two ladies (named Dee Dee) pulled out my booking records and found out I booked a good deal, they used an excuse and refused to rent the car to me! They whoosed me away from the counter and said: "since you never rented at Dollar before, we did not have your profile, why donot you go any other car rentals???" I was alone in a brand new city and never encountered such situation with rude and unprofessional representatives...

    Overall good experience, but...

    The check in was quick. What I didn't like was that they tried to sell insurance, and other things like gas and EZ Pass (or Florida's version of it) for tolls. This raises the daily price of the rental significantly. I ended up getting the toll pass thinking that many of the roads were toll roads, and we did not use it even once in four days of extensive driving. It was a big waste of money. Also, I booked a Chrysler Pacifica and ended up with a Dodge Caravan. No big deal. The vehicle had an annoying rattle. Other than that, the staff was professional and courteous and the vehicle was a late model and very clean. The drop off was even quicker than the check in. Just drive up and walk away.
